Register today for this exclusive event featuring the "US Military's Cleantech Mandate & How San Diego Can Help Meet It: 25 Percent By 2025," presented in partnership by CleanTECH San Diego and the San Diego Military Advisory Council. Cleantech companies and stakeholders that seek to do business, or are already doing business with the military, are invited to attend and learn how your company's technologies may further help the military fulfill its ambitious cleantech mandate.
"By 2012, each agency shall consume 5% renewable energy and by 2013, 7.5%, relative to total electric energy (EPAct 2005); by 2025, each agency shall produce or consume 25% renewable energy of total energy (NDAA 2007/10)"
The Department of Defense consumes about 80 percent of the energy used by the federal government, which is the nation's largest energy consumer. The Pentagon is mandated to obtain 25 percent of its energy from renewable sources by 2025. Toward that goal, in 2011 Secretary of the Army John McHugh announced the creation of a new Energy Initiatives Office tasked with developing and managing $7.1 billion in large-scale renewable power plants of about 10-megawatt in size on US domestic bases over the next decade.
To meet the “25 percent by '25” goal, the military plans to use every opportunity to develop power from renewable energy sources. This timely program will provide keynote remarks from Rear Admiral Dixon Smith, Commander of the Navy Region Southwest, and the Honorable Mayor Jerry Sanders. In addition, we will showcase several case studies by CleanTECH San Diego members partnering with the military today and how they were able to deliver their cleantech solutions to the US armed forces.
Register today and take advantage of this extraordinary opportunity to cultivate strategic partnerships and tap into the high-level networking that awaits those at the cleantech intersection of defense and the private sector.
