What: The Biotechnology
Industry Organization (BIO) will host a phone briefing during
the 2012
BIO International Convention that will provide a global
perspective on the latest biotechnology developments shaping
nations around the world--and creating global collaborations for
biotech advancements. What is in store for countries such as
Chile, Korea, Africa, Thailand and Turkey? What's next for the
BRIC nations? Participants will be briefed on the latest data of
Scientific American's Worldview Bio-Innovation Scorecard that
provides a country-by-country statistical and business development
assessment of innovation from developed and developing regions. In
addition, presenters will discuss the biotech innovations that are fueling
global revenue growth.
Joseph Diamond, Executive Vice President of International
Affairs of BIO, will discuss the global convergence of
biotechnology and highlight current initiatives underway by BIO.
Jeremy Abbate, Director, Global Media Publishing Director, SA
Worldview will spotlight countries that are making the biggest
advancements in biotech research, development and new, innovative
solutions that are positively impacting the global economy.
Dr. Meir Perez Pugatch - Managing Director and Founder, Pugatch
Consilium, will discuss the value of strong intellectual
property protection and the new Biotechnology Competitive Index,
which is a new addition to the Worldview Scorecard this year.
Why: Biotechnology around the world continues to grow. Modification of
government policies or international investments often spur growth
and progress, enabling countries to improve their economies while
enhancing the quality of life and health of their citizens. Which
