07/17/2012 MedTech Veterans Program (MVP) Boot Camp for Returning Heroes

The Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), in partnership with numerous military veteran sponsors and the International Center for Professional Development, will host a training session for the 2012-2013 MedTech Veterans Program (MVP).

The year-long career training program begins with a three-day experience in Boston. This includes an opening reception and dinner (September 30), the MVP Boot Camp (October 1), and attendance at AdvaMed 2012: The MedTech Conference (October 2). The draft agenda is available here.

The program benefits returning military veterans who are interested in careers at medical device and diagnostic companies. Please see the draft letter outlining the program that was sent to veteran organizations.

During the MVP Boot Camp, returning heroes gain career-building skills and advice. They also receive job-search assistance, access to industry networking opportunities, mentoring, coaching, and professional development training.

Participants will experience personalized training during breakout sessions focused on workplace behavior, skill translation, resume review, interview techniques, and career transition. MVP Boot Camp sessions are highly interactive and include access to speakers and human resource staff from medical device companies. We are asking all candidates to apply with a cover letter, including their goal of internships or full-time employment, and a current resume.

Applicants are to send information to MVPHeroes@advamed.org.

Industry mentors and career guides will participate with MVP Heroes in the training sessions and at AdvaMed events. Are you interested in becoming an MVP mentor? Please see the mentor description for full details and application information.

The training program was created as a way of thanking our returning heroes for the unbelievable sacrifice they made for our nation. After completing this intensive program, MVP Heroes will be better prepared for exciting careers in the medical technology industry. This program is supported by military veterans and other donors.
