Program Summary

This intensive online certificate program uses industry driven curriculum to give individuals the business acumen to successfully transition into and move up the career ladder in industrial biotechnology and biofuels careers. Graduates from this program will be knowledgeable about the industrial biotech business environment and the reality of work in multi-disciplinary project teams to meet business goals. Time commitment is approximately eight hours per week for four weeks.

â–¶ Industry Driven Curriculum
Written by BIOCOM Board and committee members, the curriculum will feature introductions to the four core modules listed below, by experts in the industry. Based on their experiences, industry experts will teach students real life lessons learned and relevant best practices, in the form of video vignettes and case study examples.

â–¶ Individual Action Roadmap
This tool will help individuals get started and advance on their career path. An assessment will explore strengths, skill gaps and key actions to focus on when entering and working in the business world of industrial biotechnology and biofuels. Individuals may, in the context of the program, create a personal action plan in which they'll identify strengths and weaknesses. Individuals will receive output information in the form of a roadmap and development plan, which will teach them how to maximize their strengths and outline strategies to improve their weaknesses.

â–¶ Access to the BioCollaborative Learning Community Portal
Once individuals complete the Industrial Biotech Immersion Program, they will be granted exclusive access to the BioCollaborative Learning Community Portal. This online portal will provide information and resources pertaining to individual career transition and those seeking to move up the career ladder. This portal also includes instructional resources (documents, templates, links to supplemental learning opportunities). Individuals will be able to access information and engage in forum discussions, as well as upload and download material and tools, via the portal. The portal will also outline up-to-the-minute industry news and trends, and, more importantly, connect unemployed individuals to internship and career opportunities.
